Introduction About the Dili Conventions Centre
The Centre of Conventions of Dili (CCD) or previously known as the Merkadu Lama or the Municipal Market of Dili, is located in the centre of Dili. According to the structure of the IV Constitutional Government (2007-2012) the CCD is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Tourism, Commerce and Industry (MTCI). Therefore, on 7 April 2010, an event on the “Timor-Leste Meeting with the Development Partners,” which officially inaugurated by His Excellency of the Prime Minister of the IV Constitutional Government, Mr. Jose Alexandre Kayrala Xanana Gusmao.
The CCD performs its role as a Public Service that provides services and facilitates the activities or events of the users in accordance with existing regulations and circulations. The legal basis that guides the CCD to carry out its functions to date is the Ministerial and 27 / GMTCI / IX / 2010, of 17 September, with some amendments also issued in the Ministerial and. 31 / GMTCI / V / 2010, of October and last with its third amendment Ministerial Directorate no. 001 / GMTAC / III / 2015 of 16 March.
Therefore, there is the structure of the Eight Constitutional Government as set out in the MTCI Organic Structure Decree Law no. 12 / 2019, of 14 of June and amended by Decree-Law no. 66 / 2020, of 22 December to Article 6, CCD is a Service of indirect State Administration under the respective superintendence of the Minister and operates through the establishment of its own organic status. Article 33 also refers to collective individuals for public rights, administrative and financial autonomy and heritage.
The Dili Conventions Centre (CCD) is the centre of the activities of the International and National Conference, Congress, Seminar, Workshop, Joint Christmas, Exam, Training, Graduation, Exhibition, dinner, Meeting, and concert and other activities in Timor-Leste. Thus, during its existence (2010-2022) it has been the role of facilitating all the events held by the users, both public and private institutions, and has a total of 678 events (this events have been held in the CCD until present data).
The Minister was pleased and very grateful that today, the Centro Convencoes de Dili (CCD) was able to launch its own website. This marks further progress in the use of communication technologies to facilitate or support the CCD as a servant of the state and the people of Timor-Leste in order to better implement their functions or roles in the public service.
